For two years Mohawk Bend, under a host of different names, has said any day now we'll be open.

And two years later, several websites, newspapers and bloggers are saying any day, and giving different opening days. This week. Next week. July 24. July 25.

But Mohawk Bend owner Tony Yanow isn't saying exactly when. And he's not correcting the speculation. On Mohawk Bend's Facebook there's no phone number and it just says opening soon. Their website says coming soon.

While the admin answers other questions,  ones asking for info about the impending opening are not.

The 6,000 square foot restaurant, fresh food, live music, patio seating and a full  bar is at the  site of the old Ramona Theater.

In December 2010 it was first quarter 2011.The LA Times reporeted that same month, the bar would open in February. In February, it was soon. The East Sider LA thought June 28 was the opening date. Then Echo Park now reported early July.

Over and over the city's regulations are cited for the delays, and if that's the case let's have an investigation. I haven't seen this kind of red-tape failure anywhere else in the city.

Hopefully we'll get a straight answer about when it's opening and Echo Park will get a thank you for sticking with Mohawk Bend for so long.

Of course it's closer than ever and better than the alternative.
